Welcome to another Foodie Friday where I am linking up to my friends at Simple Living Eating. Today I am sharing one of my FAVORITE healthy desserts. I call them Heavenly Banana Bites. They truly are heavenly in my book, which means they are also easy to make, low-cal, filling and delicious!! The pictures practically explain this entire recipe, but I will outline the details as well. First, you will slice one medium banana into even portions since you will be matching up slices to make little “sandwiches.”
Next, grab about 1.5 tablespoons of your favorite peanut butter. In this case, I used a Healthy Harvest Creamy Organic Peanut Butter. It is so smooth and creamy, but I’m sure you could also use crunchy if that is your thing.
Next, spread the peanut butter on one half of the banana slices. Isn’t your mouth starting to water already?
I bet you know what is coming… make little sandwiches with the plain banana slices on top of the slices with peanut butter.
The only mistake I made with the photos is that you need to put your banana sandwiches on some parchment paper so they will not stick to your plate in the freezer. Place the banana sandwiches in the freezer for about an hour. Plate your dessert and drizzle with light chocolate sauce.
This example shows all the bananas, but this is two servings worth. Believe me, you will be FULL after 4 little sandwiches. So, lets summarize our ingredients and calorie estimates:
- One medium banana – Approximate 100 calories
- 1.5 tablespoons peanut butter – 300 calories if you use it all. I probably used about 1 tablespoon (200 calories)
- 1 tablespoon Light Chocolate sauce – 25 calories
Grand total per serving only 150-210 calories (depending on how much PB you use). Yippee! What is one of your favorite healthy snacks or dessert?

We are going through a Nutella craze at my house… I could totally see using that in these little heavenly bites as well! Yum!
That sounds like a great idea!
