How often do you truly appreciate yourself? Self appreciation is about taking time to show kindness to yourself. Instead of focusing on mistakes, to-do lists, etc, self appreciations gives you the chance to say “thank you” for being you. For all the things you probably take for granted, it’s time to celebrate yourself!
I created a 30-Day Self Appreciation challenge. You can start it on the first day of a new month or really anytime you need a self confidence boost. Many people also call this a self love challenge.

Why is Self Appreciation Important?
Self appreciation serves as important motivation to help you explore your full potential. When you truly appreciate who you are, you increase your self confidence about everything you do. When you appreciate yourself, it is not as important whether or not others appreciate you. Sure, it’s nice to have, but the opinions of others about your will become less important.
Self-criticism and even self-hatred is far too popular these days. Negativity is everywhere. When you appreciate yourself, it’s so much easier to deflect negative energy from others.

“You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” ? Sharon Salzberg
How to practice self appreciation
If you’ve focused on negativity for a while, it can be hard to convince yourself of your self worth and value. Appreciating yourself is easier when you stop to consider all you have accomplished in your life. I recommend making a list of your achievements. Nothing is too small. Keep adding to it regularly. Keep it by your nightstand or somewhere you can easily access it especially in times when you are reverting to self criticism.

Reward Yourself
This is where the 30-Day self appreciation challenge comes into play. When was the last time you treated yourself for your hard work? Don’t wait for others to do this! Do it for yourself! Use this challenge to treat yourself to something special each and every day for a month. Don’t like something on the list? That’s OK, think of some other way you’d like to spoil yourself even just a little. This exercise can help you make sure that you are a priority each day.
