Community Events

Open your local paper and you’ll find so many free events you and your family can attend. It might be an outdoor concert, fireworks display, or even a special event at the museum. Some of these events do have food and drinks for sale, but having dinner before heading out will keep the event free.

Stargazing

Stargazing is another free event that the entire family can enjoy. You can do this in your own backyard or you can go into the country. Stargazing is also educational. You can even find apps that will give you information on the stars you point it at. Make some snacks and enjoy the outdoors.

Movie Night

While it can be expensive to go to the movies, you can enjoy a great movie at home for free. Chances are you have a large movie collection. If you’ve watched them all a dozen times, look through your free on-demand selections from your satellite or cable company. If you have Amazon Prime, you can watch hundreds of free movies through that service as well.

Build a Fort

If you have small children in the house, building a fort is a fun way to spend the evening. You can crawl in there with flashlights and enjoy reading a book together or you can let their imaginations run wild and play along. Kids will love spending the evening doing something so simple and you’ll love that it didn’t cost a thing.

Game Night

Last, but not least, you can’t go wrong with game night. Families have been having game night for decades. Whether it’s a game of Monopoly or you play video games together, this is a great way to spend time with your family.

You don’t have to spend a dime to have a good time with your family. Anything can be turned into family night. It might be a game of basketball, cooking together, listening to an audio book, or even drawing. Whatever it is just make sure it’s something your whole family enjoys doing. Change it up each week to keep family night fun.
