More About Me…

Comeback Momma was born after my own personal comeback.

In late 2011, I was in the best shape of my life. I was even featured in a commercial for a workout DVD series. I felt on top of the world. I was a mom to 2 great kids, had a great husband, and a house in the suburbs. I ran a successful fitness blog and worked part-time as a personal trainer.

One late afternoon, playing tag with my kids at a local playground changed my life. I hit my head – HARD – and started bleeding everywhere. Luckily, I remained conscious and asked my kids to go for help. An ambulance was called and I was brought to the hospital. My kids still remember that ambulance ride. They thought it was cool. You gotta love kids!

I learned that I had a pretty serious concussion. One that kept me sidelined from my fitness training for weeks. I was hit with massive anxiety attacks and long bouts of depression.

I gained 20+ pounds and quit training clients. I left the internet altogether and abandoned my blog. I kept myself completely sheltered for nearly a year. I felt ashamed that I could not “make” myself better.

Luckily, I found an amazing support team to help me rebalance my physical and mental health. My former fitness blog no longer seemed like the right fit going forward. I thought to myself, “I’m making a comeback.” So, I registered comebackmomma.com and launched it at the beginning of 2013.

We all suffer setbacks both big and small throughout our lives. My goal at Comeback Momma is to share information about the things that help me live a happier and healthier life. I want other people to strive to find the best within themselves and know that they can always make a comeback of their own.

My story was featured in Prevention Magazine and I’ve provided content for other top publications like Health and Fitness Magazine, Reader’s Digest, and Women’s Health. Besides blogging, I enjoy meeting new people, movie watching, Netflix binging, photography, making my kids laugh, and my morning cup of tea.
