How is 2016 going for you so far? Did you set goals for the year? Do these goals include being kind to yourself?
I’ve partnered with KIND Snacks to reflect on my goals for the New Year. 2016 will be my year to “Live KIND Every Day,” which means doing the KIND thing for my body, my taste buds, and my world. Here are my tips to help you do the same.
Be KIND to your body
What does being kind to your body mean to you? For me, it means that I exercise and eat right. I also take time to focus on stress relief and relaxation. I find that doing Yoga is a great way to combine both exercise and stress relief. Here are a few of my favorite poses and their benefits.
- Downward Dog
This pose helps lengthen and decompress the spine. It also stretches the hamstring and arms. Breathing deeply helps send fresh oxygen to the brain and calm your mind.
- Warrior II
This post is great to tone the muscles in your legs while providing a great stretch for your arms and shoulders. Keeping your abdominal muscles pulled in and strong helps tone that area as well.
- Corpse Pose
This pose helps rejuvenate your mind and allows you to shift your attention to your inner self. It’s great to end your yoga practice or even just to relieve stress from a busy day.
Be KIND to your taste buds
For me, healthy eating means that I explore many different flavors and a variety of healthy foods. I shop for fresh fruit and veggies and incorporate them into my recipes and meals as much as possible. One of my most popular recipes is this yummy one for Spinach & Tilapia salad.
Nuts and seeds found in KIND Snacks provide good-for-you monounsaturated fats that have proven health benefits. I love the variety of flavors to tantalize my taste buds every day. The robust flavors in the STRONG & KIND bars are amazing! They are great to satisfy my cravings for not-so-healthy choices like chips, dips and other fried foods. KIND bars are my go-to snack to help fuel up after a workout, boost my energy in the afternoon or even as a tasty dessert after dinner.
Be KIND to your world
Being kind to our world is very important to me. I try to be a good role model so that my children understand how important it is to help others and the world around us. We collect food for our local food pantry weekly and adopt a family to send gifts to each holiday season. We also rescued a dog from our local shelter.
I also love preforming random acts of kindness. I’ll compliment someone I don’t know, or treat a random person in line behind me at the coffee shop. Last week, we put together a bowl of KIND Snacks for my son to bring to school to treat his teaching team. His history teacher said he loved the STRONG & KIND Thai Sweet Chili bar. It’s one of my new favorites too.
What will you do to “Live KIND” in 2016?

This is great. I’ve started eating healthy and cutting meat out of my diet, but I need to start doing yoga. I really want to.
This also makes sense for me because my word for 2016 is ME! I am trying to focus on and be more kind to myself, so I love this post.
All of those snacks look really good.
My husband is always looking for snacks that are low in sugar, and these look like something he would really enjoy.
I buy these kind bars for my family as a quick healthy snack option. My husband is a quick meal kind of guy with his job so if it isn’t convenient he won’t eat. So I love being able to give him these as a way to get some energy back into him when he works so hard all day.
I love, love KIND bars! They all taste delicious and are perfect for my pre-workout. I started going to the gym 3-4 times a week because I really was packing on the pounds. I think 2016 is going to be great!
Household CEO…. I love it! I’m going to start referring to myself that way, too. I’ve been meaning to try some yoga sometime, but I’m a little intimidated by all the different types.
My One Word for 2016 is Balance. I am working to achieving balance in all sorts of aspects of my life…including my health. Being KIND to myself and carving out some time for self-health is a priority for me this year. I’ve finally realized that I have to in order to be the happy, healthy Mom I want to be. 🙂
