Since citrus is most known for it’s vitamin c, so I’m calling this delicious mock-tail the C-Shoot Shandy. Citrus fruits also contain an impressive list of other nutrients, including potassium, folate, calcium, thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, phosphorus, magnesium, and more. Ginger is known for it’s ability to help nausea, but is also a great anti-inflammatory.

Make Your Own Ginger Ale
Ginger beer or ginger ale you find at your local grocery store, will not have much benefit. You can often find products in health food stores containing real ginger. Another option is to make your own ginger ale. It’s easier than you might think. Here is a simple recipe:
- Steep one cup of finely chopped ginger in two cups of water for five minutes.
- Allow it to cool for 20 minutes, then strain to get the ginger pieces out.
- Prepare a simple syrup of one cup sugar to one cup of boiling water.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, set this aside.
- Mix 1/2 cup of ginger water, 1/3 cup of simple syrup and 1/2 cup of club soda.
If you prefer ginger beer, add more ginger to the ginger water or decrease the amount of simple syrup in the glass.
Yum! Sounds refreshing. I’ve never made ginger ale before but it does look easy. It looks like the perfect cooling drink for the summer. 🙂
