This is a unique year for my daughter. She just switched to a new school to help with her learning disability. This summer, she was really nervous about losing her close friends because of this change. We decided to celebrate a birthday with one of her best friends in a BIG way with a poster-size card for kids from Hallmark. My daughter really wanted her friend to know how much she cared about her and that they would stay in touch even if they were going to different schools.
We went to Walmart to find the perfect card for my daughter’s best friend. We made sure to sign up for the Hallmark Rewards Program too. That way we’ll get a reward for every 5 cards we buy at Walmart. Cool, huh?
There were super heroes, cartoon characters, and princess cards… “Nah,” said my daughter. Then she saw the Austin and Ally card and got really excited. “My friend is going to LOVE this one!” She carefully opened it up to see how the poster worked. “Wow mom, this is so cool!”
She was so excited to share this special card with her friend. She actually wanted to share it BEFORE her party. “Let’s wait until the party so all of your friends can see it.” I suggested. “Good idea mom.” Yup, I patted myself on the back for that one. LOL! The day of the party, my daughter could hardly wait to give her friend the card. Upon opening the card, her friend could tell that there was something unusual about it. “Open it up! It turns into a poster!” Shouted my daughter.
Everyone was amazed at how HUGE the poster was. It was the hit of the entire party. Everyone wanted to check it out. Moms were wondering where we got it too. I think we’ll see more of these great cards at future birthday parties.
My daughter was so happy to share this special celebration with her friend. She reassured her that they will stay in touch and play together often even though they will be attending different schools. “I’ll put this poster on my wall and think of you,” said her friend. It was such a sweet moment.

How do your children celebrate friendships?
That’s a cute card for kids to give
Hallmark always has the best cards. I’m one of those crazy people who stands in the aisle laughing at the cards.
Aww, changing schools an parting ways can be rough on best friends. It sounds like your daughter has a great foundation to stay in touch! Those cards are definitely unique- my niece would love one!
What a sweet way to have a reminder of their friendship in sight every day! #client
I love this idea! My kids would be thrilled to get a birthday card with a poster of their favorite characters! I haven’t seen these yet; Thanks for sharing, I’ll be on the lookout now.
That is just too cool! Posters are just the thing for tweens and I suspect that these cards are big hits! I love Hallmark Rewards – I’ve been a member since it began
How sweet is that! I love finding just the right card, and the idea of getting rewarded for it is very appealing.
Oh my kids would LOVE those poster cards! They have been wanting to redecorate their new rooms with posters. This would be a fun inexpensive way to do that and have them get a fun card at the same time.
That is pretty awesome – I want to try it with my kids
These cards are so cool. They are HUGE! My nephew would love to get one of those.
That’s a cute idea for teaching the kids about manners and kindness early on. Will check them out!
