Busy moms need access to easy meals. And, who isn’t busy these days, right? This recipe for chicken sausage and rice is great for my family. It even satisfies my picky kids. It has savory flavors Italian sausage and peppers, with a bit of sweetness from organic corn. I’d rather spend time with my family and not in the kitchen, so I aim for dinners that take 30 minutes or less. Using pre-cooked ingredients like al fresco All Natural Chicken Sausages are perfect for making quick meals.
Why al fresco?
The folks at al fresco believe that their customers should not have to choose between delicious food and healthy food and I agree. I want recipes that are flavorful and healthy. They should not be mutually exclusive.
Did you know they are the #1 chicken sausage brand in the US? They’ve got over 40 delicious chicken products to choose from. I also LOVE their sweet apple chicken sausage. So good at breakfast time!
Is Chicken Sausage healthier?
You bet! By using chicken sausage instead of pork, my family consumes 70% less fat and 30% less sodium. My husband has high cholesterol, so that’s a big deal to me! I’ve discussed how too much fat or sodium is not healthy for our bodies, so my kids no the deal too. al fresco products are also free of nitrates, preservatives, and artificial ingredients. All A+ in my book!
Where did you get this recipe?
So, how did I come up with this recipe? Well, first I took a look at the al fresco website for inspiration. They have a ton of great recipes to choose from. Next on my list is the Country Style Breakfast Fritatta. My recipe is inspired by the Sundried Tomato Chicken Sausage Risotto. I needed to take into account what I had in the house and what my kids would like. So I created this recipe.
