Cleaning Tips featuring Swiffer Bissell SteamBoost

We often are frantic to clean house before company arrives for the holidays. I don’t know about you, but I find that the cleanup AFTER the holidays can be even more work. Living in the northeast, the winter holiday guests track in tons of dirt from snowy sidewalks and salted driveways. In addition, we have a new puppy who is more than happy to create messes throughout the house.

What is a busy mom to do? Swiffer Bissell Steamboost to the rescue! This product is fantastic for all of your floor cleaning needs. Even my daughter, at only age 8, was excited to help out and give it a try. Hey, any product that encourages my kids to help out gets an A+ from me!

According to the company website:

The Swiffer BISSELL® SteamBoost™ is a steam mop that deeply penetrates dirt and helps remove messes mops can leave behind. Fill it with water, attach a Steam Pad and plug it in. No other cleaning solutions are needed. The special Steam Pads have a steam-activated, dirt-dissolving cleaning solution that pulls dirt from surfaces and locks it away. SteamBoost™ is light, easy to use and safe on tile, finished wood and laminate floors. (Do not use on waxed or unfinished wood floors)

I found the product to be very simple to use and it really cleaned my floors well. The mop head easily pivots to get in those hard-to-reach spaces too. I had a variety of dirt throughout the house from both visitors and the dog constantly in and out. Food and drink spills made plenty of appearances as well. Having little boys come to visit left the bathroom floors needing a good steam clean for sure! Just look at all the dirt that came up. Wow! Get that into the garbage quick!

More Cleaning Tips:

Here are a few other cleaning tips to use after you have company that might make a few extra messes.

Syrups, batters, etc., can create hard to scrub spots on your counters. After soaping the counter with hot soapy water, let it sit for a few minutes and use a flat edge spatula to gently scrape away the tough spots. This saves counters from the harder scrubbing you might typically use for these types of stubborn spots.

Have cleaning wipes handy in every room. I love tubs of baby wipes. They often come in a nice dispenser and are super easy to grab for a quick cleanup on counters, potty seats, etc. Some day, I want to write a book about 101 things to do with baby wipes. LOL!

So, keep your house clean both before and after company, and every week in between with the Swiffer Bissell Steamboost and these other cleaning tips. Have a cleaning tip? Share in a comment. Happy cleaning!

I very much need something like this. Seems so easy to use

  2. I am in the market for a new steam mop. I have always used Bissel in the past but like the idea of being able to throw out the swiffer pads. Perfect combo. Thanks for the suggestions!

  3. Rebekah says:

I have been wanting one of these! My baby is crawling everywhere and I actually caught her licking the floor yesterday. I need a steam clean!

  4. It’s great that you can use it on different surfaces. And I really like that you can just throw the heads away instead of having to wash them.

  5. tammilee says:

Love the spatula tip. I had never thought of doing that. I have a huge baking day tomorrow so this tip will come in handy.

  6. Emily says:

Looks really nice! I love how you can use it on so many different types of surfaces.

  7. Jeana says:

I also use baby wipes around the house for quick clean ups before guests come over 😉

  8. Missy says:

I like my steam cleaner BUT it doesn’t have the disposable pads and I like that idea a lot better than my washable pads.

    • Jenn says:

I am typically not a big supporter of toss away pads, but I do feel like these clean a bit better and I get to throw away the dirt.

  9. These are some fantastic tips, not just for after the holidays, but for all year around cleaning! Although I definitely understand how a lot of guests for the holidays can bring in extra messes. LOL

  10. Jen says:

I’ve long been a fan of the Swiffer, I might have to look into this. Does the cleaning stuff in the pads have a strong odor? (I am very sensitive to that kind of stuff, which is why I LOVE my dry Swiffer.)

    • Jenn says:

Luckily, you can get unscented pads. I was given the “Open Window Fresh” scent. At first it seemed a little strong (I am also sensitive to odors), but it did not linger too long after the floors dried. I’ll likely go unscented for my refills.

  11. Debi says:

These are some great tips. I will have to do some these next time i clean.

  12. Jenna Wood says:

Swiffer AND Bissel, that sounds like one tough grime cleaning team. I love how maneuverable that Steamboost looks, great for tight spaces and hardwood floors!

  13. I really need to get one of these. I love that you can use it on a variety of surfaces.
