Introducing Instant Healthification with Cody Matherne: Core Workout

Cody Matherne: Core WorkoutHi everyone, my name is Cody Matherne and welcome to Instant Healthification. Before we begin I just want to take the opportunity to thank Jenn for allowing me to write on her blog.

Instant Healthification is a YouTube channel I created with the help of my friend Paul Parrales to bring my two passions of fitness and food to the public! A little about my background, I am becoming a personal trainer through NASM and both my parents owned restaurants my entire life. Every week we will post a new video with a workout of the week along with a tasty meal that can be done instantly wherever you please without the need for a gym!

For this weeks workout we will focus on the core. Many people hear core and wonder “what is that?” and “why is it so important?” The core is the structures that make up the LPHC (lumbo pelvic hip complex). This includes our lumbar spine, abdomen, pelvic girdle, and hip joint. These muscles make up a majority of our body. The core allows us to function daily movements that we take for granted, such as standing or moving boxes. It keeps our lower back supported while we sit at our desks. Many people take these simple actions for granted but they are anything but that. So the next time your doing wall squats or crab walks(you’ll have to watch to find out), keep a smile on that face and remember we are strengthening our core for the rest of the day!

Along with a workout, our diet is just as important if not more important! The meal this week is simple and tasty, Sautéed Chicken with a Roasted Vegetable Medley and Baked Sweet Potato. Keep it healthy and sauté that Chicken instead of frying. Chicken offers lean protein that will help repair your muscles after a tough work out! The vegetable medley offers a wide variety of minerals and vitamins from the tomatoes, mushrooms, fresh corn, red bell peppers, and green bell peppers! And to top it off our Baked Sweet Potato offers complex carbohydrates that our body uses to provide us energy for the rest of the day.

I hope this has offered some good advice and I look forward for you to experience Instant Healthification. A new article will be up every week along with each video. Stay Healthy and be sure to SUBSCRIBE!
