Ah, chocolate… who doesn’t love chocolate? Energy… who doesn’t love having energy? Right? Busy moms like me need energy, that’s for sure!

The problem with chocolate is that while it provides a quick boost, it typically follows with an energy crash. The right mix of protein, carbs and fats can give your body a longer-lasting source of energy. Adding protein to these chocolate chip cookie brownies provides the key ingredient to keep me feeling energized, full and satisfied.
I made this recipe with Premier Protein’s Chocolate Milkshake flavor, but you can use your favorite chocolate protein powder as well.
I decided to make a delicious batch of Dark Chocolate Chip Protein Brownies. These brownies serve as a terrific snack to boost my energy for the rest of the day. It’s been a good lunch “dessert” for the kids to keep up with their online learning a well. Here is my recipe.
Dark Chocolate Chip Protein Brownies
Ingredients
1 cup chocolate chocolate protein powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1.5 cups brown sugar
2/3 cup melted butter
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Line a cake pan (I used a 9×13) with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl combine the dry ingredients.
- Add the wet ingredients and mix well.
- Pour the batter into the lined cake pan. Smooth out into one even layer.
- Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
- Then turn off the oven and bake for another 5 minutes.
- Allow to cool before cutting into bars and serving. Enjoy!
Nothing satisfies like protein. Want fewer hunger pangs? Protein takes longer to digest, so it naturally makes you feel fuller for longer. Great news if you’re watching your weight or prone to frequent snacking like I am. Just remember to eat in moderation. I limit myself to only one a day.
