Our Family Earth Day Tips Featuring Ology at Walgreens

It’s a busy, busy world we live in. We often get so caught up in our own worlds that we forget how we can impact the world around us. As Earth Day approaches, I took some time to chat with my kids about creating a healthy home and the social responsibility of leaving behind a better Earth for everyone to enjoy. We discussed ways we can help make our home earth friendly. Here are the Family Earth Day Tips we came up with together:

Buy Earth Friendly Products

Whenever possible, we try to purchase products that are healthier for the environment, without harsh chemicals. Products made from recycled or sustainable materials are also a great choice for us. We were excited to give the Walgreen Ology products a try. We found a variety of the Ology Products at our local Walgreens.

We believe in living life well and making positive choices. That means avoiding toxic ingredients. It means seeking out sustainable raw materials and including natural ingredients. It’s all about leaving behind a healthier, happier world for our children and grandchildren.

Unplug and Turn Off

Unplug anything that you are not using. Removing chargers for cell phones, tablets, etc., is one very easy step we can all do. We remind one another if we see a charger or small appliance left plugged in. We also turn remind one another to turn off lights when we leave a room.

When the Ology All-Purpose cleaner is finished double checking our plugs (LOL!) it’s a great cleaning product for many areas of our home. It cleans up the grease and grime in the kitchen and smells great. My kids say, “the kitchen smells so nice mommy!” The smell is pleasant, but not overwhelming like some cleaning products. Just perfect for sensitive noses like mine.

Recycle & Reuse

We recycle as much as possible. We bring the kids to our local recycling center so they can see where the materials go. In addition, we try to reuse items like boxes and wood to make other things too. My daughter recently made this cute playhouse for her dolls using an apple box. My son made a toy robot from scraps of wood.

Save water

We turn off the water while brushing teeth and soaping up our hands. We take shorter showers and wash clothes on eco settings using less water and heat. The kids understand that water is a valuable resource. While the Ology products may be safe and gentle, they work very well on dirty hands and laundry so we still get clean quickly while conserving water.

Save Our Trees

My kids have learned how important trees are for our environment. We were all really excited to learn that the Ology paper products are tree free. How cool is that? I did not even know there were tree free paper products. They are made from sugarcane husks and bamboo. Both are excellent sustainable resources.

Give back

We also like to give back to our community. We donate items that we no longer use to local shelters and community centers. We’ve got a basket ready to go to a shelter for moms and children coming out of domestic violence situations. We also donate to our local food back quite frequently. They always need paper products, so the Ology products will come in handy.

Save Money
