Celebrating Family With Ice Cream Sundae Fun!

GrandpaHug

This post has been compensated by the J.M. Smucker Company. All opinions are my own.

We have a very unique family situation. My father lives in Thailand. Because of the distance, he usually comes to visit only once a year. When he comes, the kids love to celebrate to make him feel special. This year, we created an ice cream sundae bar so we could all make ice cream sundaes together.

DaughterToppings

We had a ton of Smucker’s® Ice Cream Toppings flavors we found at Walmart a few weeks ago. Then we shopped for some other toppings like candy, nuts and chocolate. We figured the grownups would opt for the nut, caramel and chocolate side of the sundae bar and the kids would go for the candy side. I asked my kids and Grandpa to create their own signature sundaes. Here’s what they came up with.

My father LOVES nuts, chocolate, and caramel. He created a sundae he named the Thailand Nutty Delight. Here is his recipe:

  • Layer of mixed nuts
  • Vanilla bean ice cream
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Chocolate cookie crumbles
  • Spoonful of Smucker’s® Hot Fudge Topping
  • Another layer of vanilla ice cream
  • More chips and cookie crumbles
  • Topped with a few nuts and a drizzle of caramel flavored Smucker’s® Sundae Syrup

Next, my daughter could not wait to make a creation. She had a strawberry and marshmallow theme. She called her sundae Strawmallow Dream. She topped a few scoops of strawberry ice cream with Smucker’s® Marshmallow and Strawberry toppings.

My son decided to make a creation over an Italian ice using the Smucker’s® Funfetti Vanilla Cake, candy balls and a gummy bear to serve as “King of Sundae Mountain!”

We love celebrating family with ice cream sundaes. We create a #Sundaefundae! Grandpa does not have ice cream very often in Thailand so this was a special treat for him. I bet we’ll make a few more sundaes while he’s here.

Oh my heavens you had some fun, didn’t you? I’m sure it’s hard to have your dad so far away. I have a very guilty secret – I will eat Smucker’s caramel sauce straight from the jar.
