My kids just got back to school a few weeks ago. It’s a busy season where we tend to get caught up with homework, soccer, gymnastics and more. Having a chance to spend quality time as a family can be rare. Last weekend, my family had the pleasure of attending Family Movie Night in downtown Boston sponsored by US Weekly and Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn. We had a great time! The event was held in the south garden of the Prudential Center. There were activities like a coloring corner with HUGE coloring pages, and a booth to create a personalized Flip Book. My kids and I jumped right in to make one of these. Check it out:
I love that this event inspired quality family time, in a unique outdoor movie setting. I can’t remember the last time we watched an outdoor movie. The folks at Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn supplied free picnic blankets and unlimited popcorn via their Family Movie Night Popcorn Stand. My son, who is actually picky about his popcorn, loved it. He was the first one back in line for a second helping.
It was really special to be in an environment where a ton of friends and families were out together enjoying time with one another. The focus was on real “face time” and not electronics. Having my kids leave their tablets behind was a refreshing change of pace.
Lots of families came out to enjoy a lovely night in Boston. We found a prime spot for our blanket and waited for the movie to start. Overall, our family had an amazing time! The outdoor movie experience was a blast!
Keep a look out for information about more family outdoor movie nights by Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn across the country this fall! There could be one near you soon! If not, maybe host one of your own. Don’t forget the popcorn!
