I am sure that you have heard that taking time for yourself will give you the break you need to recharge, so here are some fashion and beauty tips that will help you look and feel amazing!

4 fashion and Beauty Tips to Look and Feel Your Best

Wear Clothes for Your Body Type

Don’t fight it, if you have a short torso and curvy hips, like me, don’t wear long tops and low rise skinny jeans. This causes you to look short and it accents your hips giving off the illusion that you look heavier than you actually are. Instead go for something that features your waist, like an A-line dress or a high waisted pencil skirt, that will accent your tiny waist and elongate your legs giving you a slim, but curvy, feminine look. To find out what your body type is, take this body shape quiz and review this body type chart. Take it from me, following this rule of thumb will undoubtedly make you feel sexier and more confident.

Choose Cosmetics That Flatter Your Face Shape

The second tip is for COSMETICS!! As a little girl we all loved caking on the turquoise eyeshadow paired with your moms’ super fabulous, hot pink lipstick. Gone are the 80s, so listen up ladies!! Less is more…accent your best features based on face shape. There are 5 main face shapes, oval, square, round, heart, and oblong. Contouring can help bring some definition and harder lines to a round face. Check out the different tips based on your facial shape to achieve your best look.

Select a Haircut to Your Face Shape

Similar to cosmetics, your hairstyle should flatter your face shape. Selecting your hairstyle based on the shape of your face, will highlight your best features. Determining whether your face is round, square, oval, heart-shaped, triangular, diamond or long, is easy. Just pull your hair back tight and trace the shape of your jaw line from ear to ear on the mirror (using lipstick or something washable). There are specific styles that suit certain face shapes, for example, for a round and long face shapes you want to avoid one length, keep layers or keep it short with a bob. For a triangular face shape you want to keep a lot of volume, however, with a heart-shaped face where you would want to draw attention away from your chin with swept bangs lots of layers. Now with a square shape, you want to keep blunt cuts to bangs or one length bob cuts around your jaw line to accent those sharp jaw lines. Add Meditation to Your Daily Routine

The fourth tip will not appear to be so valuable, especially for improving your look and feel. However, the benefits of meditation go leaps and bounds beyond your physical appearance. Believe it or not 10 minutes of meditation a day has the ability to increase focus and reduce stress and anxiety, will increase creativity, compassion, memory, bring you positive emotions and longer lasting emotional stability. The best way to begin a meditation routine is to carve out with 10 minutes in the morning, after you have showered is best. Find a comfortable, quiet space to sit and while keeping good posture. All you have to do is focus all your attention to your breathing. By breathing through your nose, simply observe your inhale and exhale. No need to regulate it or change anything, simply observe for 10 minutes. To read more about the mysteries of meditation, check out this article. Above is Jenn’s meditation basics tutorial.

Ultimately, the goal with upgrading your look is to be happy with yourself and to be comfortable in your skin. Feeling good is one of the major benefits of these tips and will undoubtedly boost your confidence allowing you to approach life with a more positive outlook and to share that with the ones you love.

I’ve always been so self-conscious about my round face. One of my teachers mentioned it as an endearing thing when I was in 6th grade and it’s always bugged me since! With clothing styles, I’m having more of a hard time choosing clothes that aren’t too young or too old for me. Not sure which store to shop in anymore!
