If you are like me, you tend to put yourself at the bottom of your priority list. As moms, we are often focused on taking care of our families, households, pets, and even friends that we put ourselves last. This can cause our health and fitness to suffer. May is Women’s Health Month at Walgreens so I made it a point to create a Personal Health Kit to help myself, and hopefully inspire my readers, to stay on track with healthy habits and fitness goals.
It was easy to find great products all around the store, but especially in the Women’s Health sections. These areas gave me great ideas on what to choose for my health kit.
Good health and fitness does not need to be expensive. Walgreens has such great prices that I was able to create my entire Health Kit for about $30. In fact, Walgreens has great products and advice both in stores and online to help you keep fit and healthy. Think of Walgreens as a one stop shop for all of your Women’s Health needs.
For my Personal Health Kit, I considered the things I might need before, during and after exercise. Here’s what I came up with:
Hydration is key for health and wellness. So, how much water? Around 91 ounces per day for women and 125 ounces per day for men, according to the Institute of Medicine. Even if you are not working out, drinking enough water helps with digestion, keeps your skin glowing, and even helps you eat less by making you feel more full. Here’s a great article on the Walgreens Blog on this subject. If you are working out, you might consider the added boost with a product like protein water.
Protect Your Skin with Sunscreen
It’s the time of year when most people are taking their exercise outside. Remember to use sunscreen even on cloudy days to protect your skin from early aging and skin cancer. Remember to get a skin check annually too.
Consider Vitamins and Supplements
Always consult with your healthcare provider about what vitamins and supplements might be right for you. I recently had to take a course of antibiotics to fight off an infection. Taking this great blend of Women’s Probiotics from Walgreens has been super helpful to keep my digestion on track and boost my overall immunity.
Having healthy snack choices on hand is key to staying fit and healthy and helps keep you away from bad choices. Walgreens has some great choices. I love their Nice brand cocoa dusted almonds. Smelling fresh is key even when working out. I’m a huge fan of the Dove products that are super gentle on my skin. Walgreens has great prices and even some two for one deals. The Ban Cooling Wipes are terrific for post workout especially if you need a quick freshen before hopping in the car to run errands, pick up the kids, etc.
Finally, take some time just for you! Spoil yourself in a way that makes you feel terrific! For me, I love a nice bath after a workout or after a stressful day. It is a chance for me to unwind and lock out the busy world for at least a little while. The Walgreens Village Naturals line provides excellent choices at great prices too.
