The Back to School season can be pretty hectic. Some schools have been back for a few weeks and some are just starting this week. Whether your kids have started school or not, there probably plenty of supplies you still need to make sure they are at their best. Well, BJs Wholesale Clubs have everything you need. Here are some ideas for getting off to a healthy start for the back to school season.
Healthy Ideas for Back to School Season
Make Sure Your Kids Have Supplies
A great way to reduce stress during this time of year is by making sure your kids feel well prepared for each day of school. BJs has a wide variety of school supplies at great prices. Even if you have done your back to school shopping, you are likely to find out that your child needs at least a few more items.
My daughter found a binder that will fit her tablet and the daily planner she’ll use each day. My son needed some extra pens and markers. These extra supplies can make for great teacher gifts too.
Pack Healthy Lunches
Healthy snacks and lunches help fuel your kids for success. Minimizing sugar and focusing on whole foods helps maintain their energy throughout the day. Shopping at BJs makes it easy to find healthy food at great prices. They have a great variety of choices including healthy snacks, soft whole wheat bread, and a plethora of fruits and vegetables.
Look at this healthy lunch I came up with featuring all products I found at BJs.
- Organic apple juice
- Mixed melon slices
- Annie’s cookies
- Edamame salad
- Baby carrots
- Half sandwich on whole wheat bread
Eat Healthy After School Snacks
Giving the kids a healthy after school snack helps prepare them to focus on homework without a grumbling tummy. My daughter loves fresh fruit and veggies. My son prefers toast with healthy toppings. Get your kids involved in creating the healthy snacks they will actually eat.
Enforce Bedtime Routines
We have one tween and one teen so they try to push back on their bed times. Even if they are in bed at a reasonable hour, they both complain about not being able to fall asleep. My daughter decided that audio books help her go to sleep and my son likes music. So, we picked up this great alarm clock that can plug into their tablets so they can each have some listening time to sooth them to sleep.
As you get adjusted to the first month of school, it’s a good idea to set your kids up for a healthy year. Check out your local BJs Wholesale Club or visit BJs.com. The BJs Journal always have some great ideas like these DIY Kids Snacks. Have a tip to share? Leave it in a comment.

We are BJ’s members and love the savings you can get there. I buy lots of produce for lunches there because I get so much more than traditional grocery stores. I haven’t bought school supplies there, but I might have to check it out when I go later this week…there are still a few things that I couldn’t get on my kids’ school supply list. 🙁

My youngest is great, his body knows when it’s bedtime and he asks to go so there’s no fussing. I find it’s easiest to stay on track by prepping things like backpacks and clothes the night before.
