Healthy Night Time Snack Ideas #GoodNightSnack #cbias

When I was pregnant, I had horrible morning sickness. Kellogg’s Cereals were often the only thing I could keep down (Frosted Mini Wheats in particular). Maybe this passed down to my kids because they are huge cereal lovers too. My family can truly eat cereal morning, noon and night. For our summer evenings, we decided to come up with snack ideas that are both healthy and easy to make.

My daughter LOVES Kellogg’s Fruit Loops. We came up with a recipe to incorporate fruit and yogurt too. We decided to call this one Rainbow Apple Slices. They are super easy to make and fun to eat too. She shared these with a friend on a recent sleepover.

Rainbow Apple Slices

• Sliced apples – we used Macintosh
• Kellogg’s Fruit Loops – sorted by color
• Yogurt – vanilla or plain, depending on how sweet you want your night time treat
• Fresh Fruit – use fresh fruit like raspberries as a side garnish

Slice an apple or two. Place slices on a plate. Add a layer of yogurt to each apple slice. Place Kellogg’s Fruit Loops sorted by the colors of the rainbow on each slice. Garnish with fresh fruit. We used raspberries. So easy and quite delicious. Even my husband liked these.

We also love family movie night. I wanted to create a movie night mix beyond just our typical popcorn snack. I created a new snack mix using Kellogg’s Jif Peanut Butter Cereal. I call it PB&J Movie Mix. It really reminds me of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It could not be easier to make, but it’s really packed with flavor.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Movie Mix

• Popcorn – my local market has a great organic buttered popcorn.
• Strawberry dusted almonds – a few major brands make these, cocoa dusted almonds are amazing in this mix too!
• Kellogg’s Jif Peanut Butter Cereal

Simply mix the ingredients and you are all set for a movie night with a whole new burst of flavor.

For the grown ups, I created a dessert that my husband and I love to enjoy on our back porch. Crickets chirping, it’s too good for us to talk. OK, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but it is really good. I simply call it the Healthy Dessert Parfait. Sometimes my husband is not exactly sure what I put in it. I’ll sometimes hide extra healthy stuff like kale. Yup, kale!

Healthy Dessert Parfait

Serves 2

• 1 cup kale
• 2.5 cups frozen berries ( I used mini blueberries for this one)
• 1 cup vanilla yogurt
• 1 cup Kellogg’s Special K Fruit & Yogurt
• Fresh berries for top garnish

Blend frozen berries, kale and 1/2 cup yogurt in blender. Build parfait with about half a cup of the Kellogg’s Special K Fruit & Yogurt for the bottom and top layers. The added crunch provides great texture to the parfait. Spoon berry blend on top of cereal layer, add second 1/2 cup of yogurt as the next layer of each parfait. Top with more cereal and garnish with fresh fruit.

My daughter had a blast helping me shop for our Kellogg’s cereals at Walmart. They were super easy to find in the cereal isle. It’s was challenging not to buy a ton more than we did. We’ll be trying the new Rice Krispies Multigrain Shapes cereal next. I’m sure we’ll come up with something fun.
