Get SLIM and STRONG with Home Workouts

Get Slim and Strong with Home Workouts

The right exercise DVD can help you shape up faster and for less money than a gym membership. One University of Florida study found that over 15 months, exercisers who participated in home workouts were more consistent and lost 10 extra pounds compared with gym goers. Who knew?

I’ve been working my DVD player and my body overtime to screen many workout DVDs. Of course, I’m addicted to the BeachBody programs that helped me to lose 30 pounds, but I’m also a fan of quite a few others. Here is a list of some of my favorites home workouts to help you get slim, toned, and boost your energy, or simply get you started.

For the Beginner:

Tony Horton’s 10-minute Trainer
Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred – Level 1
Turbo Jam 20 minute workout
Yoga Booty Ballet

Intermediate:

21 Day Fix – This is a great progam that includes an excellent diet guide too.
Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred – Levels 2 and 3
Crunch Fitness Bootcamp

Advanced:

P90X – One of my all time favorites!
Insanity – Shaun T. is so motivating and not hard on the eyes either. LOL!
Bob Harper Inside Out Method

great info i love your site stop by and say hi sometime at http://www.healthfitnesscorner.com

  2. I love that you gave us your recommended videos by level. Have you ever heard of Ripped? What do you think of that?

    • Jenn says:

Do you mean Jillian Michael’s Ripped? That is a great one too. I like that she typically has someone to show you a variety of modifications for beginners to advanced exercisers.

  3. I really need this kind of workshop since I can’t go to the gym. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Sonya says:

I will be looking for the Beginner titles at my local library. Thanks for the list.

  5. This is a great list. My fave home workout is basically any DVD by Cathe Friedrich. She is THE TRUTH. Most at-home workouts don’t leave me sore – this one DOES. I can sometimes barely move my arms. #wowlinkup

  6. Janet says:

I love Jillian Michaels workout DVD’s! Although I am intrigued with the yoga booty ballet, may have to check that out. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Ciera says:

I found this very interesting! I always work out better at the gym than at home. I am much more likely to give in the that tiredness at home than I am at the gym! LOL

    • Jenn says:

I was surprised by the study too. I go through ups and downs with whether or not home workouts work better for me than the gym.

  8. Jenna M Wood says:

Thanks for sharing your best picks for home workouts, I often feel motivated to start a home workout regimen, but never know where to start!

  9. When I was really into it Jillian Michaels workouts were what I turned on every day!

  10. My favorite home workout is walking up and down the stairs for 20-30 minutes and walking on my treadmill. I love these workouts especially in the winter but not too much in the summer. I prefer to ride my bike along the lakefront in Chicago. Thanks for visiting the #wowlinkup.

  11. I love running outside but when the weather is bad I will run up and down the stairs

  12. Patty says:

My home workout is mostly just chasing after my goats. That can be some serious exercise at times….

  13. Jenny says:

I love T25. While I didn’t lose many pounds, the inches just fell off. I’ve neglected it for two months now but am going to restart next week. I need to wake up super early to fit it into my schedule but am going to make it work. It’s true…home workouts really do so much to help you get fit.

  14. This is an amazing post!! I’d LOVE to try all the different kids of at home workouts out there to see which ones I like best but my health is sadly too temperamental for me to go all out.

I do quite love workout out at home though! I do a lot of at home yoga and I try to get out and go for walks around my neighborhood frequently πŸ™‚

  15. kristyn says:

oh i need to try the yoga booty ballet!!

  16. Thank you for sharing these awesome videos. I am not a gym person…at.all. Finding easy ways to do it at home is so important to me.

  17. Lena says:

That is super cool – gotta go back to being active me and I have most of these, so that should totally work

  18. I am envy with you πŸ™‚ that is awesome πŸ™‚ I really need to start working out soon. I cannot wait to shed some fats on my stomach especially πŸ™‚

  19. My husband started working out regularly almost two years ago and now I am looking for a few training videos so that I can start myself. I thank you so much for showing me a few options for a beginner.

  20. I really need to start a workout of my own. I’m 30 and sadly out of shape, not as much as some…but more than I like to admit. πŸ™‚ Maybe I will find the perfect motivation to get me up, since it’s finally warm.

I’ve seen it on infomercials, and have considered ordering P90X. As of right now, I run and do body weight exercises, including Hindu squats and Hindu pushups. But I’m always looking for something new and different.
