Last year, I suffered from a nerve injury that caused me to be more sedentary than I’ve ever been in my life. I turned to food for comfort when I was in pain. I gained about 15 pounds and now I feel very dissatisfied with my body and fitness level. With the start of the new year, I decided that something needed to change. I am no longer going to let pain rule my life. It’s time once again for a Comeback!
Getting Started with Jenny Craig
The folks at Jenny Craig offered to help me reach my weight loss goal. I was so excited. I could not wait to get started! Yes, I still struggle with the nerve pain, but I have resolved NOT to let it run my life. I’m setting small goals to help me get back on track and I’m excited to have the Jenny Craig program to help me succeed.
My schedule is super busy, so I don’t have a lot of time to visit a local Jenny Craig Center in person. I’m using the Jenny Craig Anywhere program. It offers one-on-one support through consultations over the phone or via video chat. I use the online app to track my food. It’s so easy and convenient.
Placing My First Order
I was a bit nervous about whether or not Jenny Craig would have enough food choices to fit my needs. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Jenny Craig Menu offers more than 100 premium menu items in a wide variety of flavors created by 40 professional chefs. Placing my order over the phone was super easy and the food arrived in only 2 days. Unpacking the box was really fun as I explored what I would be eating for the next 2 weeks.
Following the Plan with my Consultant
Having a dedicated consultant is one of the main reasons I decided to try Jenny Craig. The company has made personal support a cornerstone of their business for 30 years. Every member is paired with a dedicated consultant who provides one-on-one support to identify their challenges and goals, and helps them to create unique weekly meal and activity plans. Since I’ve been so sedentary, I set a goal to of 7,000 steps a day to start and I wear my activity tracker daily.
My first consultant was not a good fit for me. I shared this concern in the online survey I received during my first week. A lovely customer service manager contacted me right away. She explained that finding the right consultant for each client is what Jenny Craig is all about. She set me up with a new consultant right away. I LOVE her! She helped me create the plan below. In three weeks, I have lost 8 pounds. I am beyond thrilled!

My Plan so Far
- 1200 calories per day with a blend of Jenny Craig meals, fresh fruits and vegetables
- Eating a Jenny Craig meal before being in a tempting situation like when my family orders pizza
- Packing shelf-stable Jenny Craig foods when I travel
- Planning alternate meal choices in advance
- Tracking with the Jenny Craig phone app
- Drink plenty of water
- Making time for myself – My consultant and I identified that I am fall into the “self-sacrificer” category so it’s important that I have “me time.”
How’s the Food?
My biggest concern was how the food would taste. After all, I’d be eating this food for 2 weeks. The Jenny Craig Food has been really delicious! Sure, there have been a few misses, but most meals have been hits for my taste buds. The portion control has really been key to my success. I don’t need to guess if I’m eating too much or too little. It’s all planned for me.
So, that’s how my experience with Jenny Craig is going so far. I’ll report back in a few more weeks with an update.
