I love my morning routine. Every day brings new opportunities. Every day is a new chance to start fresh and do better than the day before. It’s kind of a magical time if you ask me.

How you start your day, or more specifically, how you spend those first few morning hours has a big impact on the rest of it. It’s a time that sets the tone for your entire day. That’s why making over your morning routine is so important. It’s about so much more than those first few hours. It’s about setting the stage for a day that’s incredible or just “meh”.
My Morning Routine Sets the Tone
If my morning routine goes smoothly, I’m in for a good day. If I wake up and allow myself to drag and mope around in the morning, I’m in for a real stinker. That’s the power of a morning routine. I’m sure you’ve experienced this yourself.
The Snooze Button
Let’s use the ever-popular snooze button as an example. You set your alarm to get an early start on the day, ensuring you have time for exercise, mediation, or just some much needed time to yourself. You have every intention of getting up and accomplishing those goals the night before when you set that alarm.
Hopefully, on most mornings, you get up when your alarm goes off, and you go for that walk, do your meditation, or just read a book for twenty minutes. However, there are those days when you just can’t make yourself get up. You hit the snooze button several times, or even worse, you turn off the alarm and simply go back to sleep.
Think about how the rest of those days went. Did you notice a difference in how you felt? How much did you accomplish on those mornings when you got up with your alarm? Where you able to do all the things you’d planned? The answer is probably yes.

Hitting Snooze on Your Day
Now think about those mornings where you hit the snooze button a few times or you just went back to sleep. What did you accomplish on those days? How did they compare to the days when you got up immediately?
If I had to guess, I’d say that the mornings when you got up and got to it when your alarm went off were a lot smoother. You probably accomplished most or all of what you’d intended to do. How about the days when you hit the snooze button?
Chances are that hitting the snooze button in the morning hit the snooze button for your day. That snooze button set the tone for your entire day. You were probably behind all day, dragging around and just wishing the day would be over.
