Planning for a Family Snackation on New England Hiking Trails

My family loves to hike. We are very lucky that there are so many awesome hiking destinations close to home in New England. When we go on long hikes, we need to be prepared with lots of snacks for our Snackation!

Walmart has some great snack supplies from Smucker’s and Jif brands that are just perfect to fit in our day packs and coolers. I love that Walmart has a great selection and always has the best prices around.

Quick and easy snacks are a must in my book. I want to spend time with my family and on the trails, not fuss with snack preparation. The portable snacks like the Jif To Go Dippers are perfect for on the go. I’ll pack some apple slices and pretzels for easy dipping when we take snack breaks along the trail.

I am in LOVE with the Jif Whips. I selected the peanut butter and chocolate flavor. I can’t wait to dip some fresh strawberries for a sweet and satisfying treat! My husband is excited to try this one too!

My daughter is a big fan of PB&J sandwiches, but they can get messy to make and eat on the trail. She’s also not a big fan of the crust. The Smucker’s Uncrustables are ideal for her! I can take a few out of the freezer and they are ready to eat by the time we hit our lunch spot on the hike.

My son is a fan of the Smucker’s Squeeze Grape and Strawberry Jam. He’ll put some on a rice cake or squirt inside a hotdog roll. He’ll often combine both flavors.

I’m excited for our next family hike and glad I am all set with snacking supplies. Stay tuned for my post on what snacks we prepare and maybe a yummy recipe or two.

I love the idea of a Snackation!!! The Jif Whips sounds so delish – great for strawberries I need a snackation for that now!

  2. Chantal says:

These are awesome products for a picnic! I think the crustables and the peanut butter to go are both amazing ideas! I’ll be looking for the pb packs next time I’m at the store!

  3. Apryl says:

Th is is right on time! We’re taking a trip next week to Disney World. I’ll keep a look out for some of these items when I pack my boys lunches for the airplane. Thanks!

  4. Rosey says:

We love Smuckers here. We also love those Jif Dippers…I think I like those as much as the kids do.

  5. Briton Alo says:

We love taking individually packed apple sauces, sliced meats and cheeses, and grapes! I’d love to try the peanut butter to go packs!

  6. I must try some of these Jiff Whips. Last year they had a pumpkin spice flavor and I regret not trying it. I’ll have to look for it this year.

  7. Ashley says:

I have yet to try the Jiff Whips or the to-go containers, but I love everything else! Such great snack food.

  8. We don’t hike, but take day trips often for shopping or flea markets and always try to have a snack bag and cooler. Great way to save money and not eat junk.

  9. I love the Jiff to go. That would make a great snack for my children to take to work.

  10. Ron says:

Great supplies! For sure you and your family will enjoy your SNACKNATION and hike!

  11. Maureen says:

Oh how I wish we have those smucker’s here. In Jakarta (where I am) we only have the smucker’s jam. And the jif to go looks really good too. Too bad we don’t have them here too.

  12. You definitely need some good snacks when you hike.
    I haven’t hiked in a long time!
    Thanks for sharing.

  13. Jeanine says:

This stuff looks great. I wish we had the jif products in Canada. My kids would love it all especially those crustables!

  14. Heather says:

I like those peanut butter cups! They would be great in my son’s lunch box for all the fruit and crackers I pack him.

  15. I would take along the uncrustables so that we could hold off on hunger. That looks like a fun hike!

  16. Lisa says:

I still have not tried the Jiff Whips but they look so good. I can see all kinds of fruit being dipped into it and gobbled up.

  17. Look at all these delicious snacks, I have only ever been hiking twice and I loved it. Glad you guys have great hiking areas.

  18. Christi says:

You’re so prepared! I love the idea of bringing smart snacks along for an outing like that – you KNOW the kids are inevitably going to get hungry (aka whiny)!

  19. My kids adore all things PB&J so these are great ideas. Squeezable jam has pretty much changed my life. I love Smucker’s Natural fruit spread- it’s delicious and easy to use on everything!

  20. I love peanut butter and jelly. I used to buy the uncrustables for my daughter when she was younger. Great snack.

  21. Amber Ludwig says:

Mmmm!! Some of our favorite snacks!! We love hiking as a family and always bring pb&j!! My son is a peanut butter obsessed man!! But its so perfect because its a great amount of protein and sugar to keep us trekking!!
