We all remember the days when buying housebrands meant getting something that was almost what we wanted but not quite. You remember – crackers that were slightly stale-tasting, soups that were a little “off”, spices that weren’t very spicy. Well, those days are over.

The thing I love most about the Signature line is that it has pretty much everything my family wants and needs. This helps me shop less and save more on my groceries.

This seems like a no-brainer, but I am constantly surprised at how many people don’t look for sales. Albertsons and Shaw’s routinely have great sales, so snag up their house brand while also looking for items on sale that you normally buy.

Use Those Coupons

We all know about coupon/saving apps on our phones, but don’t forget that printable coupons are still a thing, as well. There are sites out there that offer both printable and digital coupons, and they really add up over time.

Use Store Apps

In addition to coupon/saving apps, you can also take advantage of store apps. For example, Jewel-Osco, a member of the Albertsons family, has an in-house rewards app. Using that, you can save on all kinds of products as well as take advantage of freebies and deals made just for you.

Many of the stores in the Albertsons family have these apps, so be sure you check to see if your store has one that you’ve been missing out on.

Stretch Those Recipes

My final tip to save on groceries is to stretch those recipes. The first thing to do is buy products from the Signature line. They are much cheaper than the “big guy” brands.

Secondly, switch up ingredients. For example, you can use Signature Select Turkey Meatballs rather than beef. We love these over pasta with my homemade marinara sauce. My husband loves it in his lasagna. Speaking of, you can buy Signature Select Lasagna Meat too! Why not get some Signature Select Italian Bread as well. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

For snacks, do things like combine items to make things interesting without using too much of one thing. For example, I gave each of my kids some ice cream and pair it with a cookie and some trail mix. The kids got their sweet fix in, we kept it interesting, and I stretched those dollars just a bit.
