Seven Habits to Help Start Your Day Off Right

Ever have one of those days when you REALLY don’t want to get out of bed? It happens to the best of us. To help minimize those days in my life, I’m working on seven habits that help me start my day off right. I consider completing each habit as a personal “Morning Win.”

Never Hit Snooze

Are you a snooze button addict? Those minutes of inadequate rest can actually make you more tired. If you truly have time to snooze, reset your alarm for that extra time to awaken more refreshed.

Seven Habits to Start Your Day

Think positive

Leave a few words of encouragement by your bed or on your bathroom mirror. This can help create an optimistic mindset for the day ahead. Pick words that make you feel empowered. My words are “Amazing, Limitless and Passionate.” I also have an “I Love You” note from my daughter by my bed. It’s always puts a smile on my face.

Boost energy with color

Seeing bright color when you first wake up is an easy and natural way to awaken your brain. Put a colorful piece of art next to your bed or surround yourself with a few bright throw pillows. I have a bouquet of bright silk daisies next to my bed.

Make your bed

Making your bed each morning helps to create a calming environment free from clutter. I always feel more at peace when my bed is made. It also provides a more welcoming space when it’s time to go to sleep.

Eat Breakfast

Eating breakfast is truly necessary to get your body going. I added the new belVita Bites as one of my breakfast options. The mixed berry bites are great with fresh berries and nonfat yogurt. The belVita Bites contain slow-release carbs from wholesome grains to help fuel your body for 4 hours.

Prioritize Your Day

The morning is a great time to set your priorities for the day. Figure out what really matters and what can wait. This will help you tackle your top priorities first and minimize the temptation to procrastinate. Keep a written list somewhere as an easy reminder for the tasks you set each day.

Pack a Snack

Pack a healthy snack so you are ready when midday munchies hit. Ideas include a handful of nuts, orange slices, low fat cheese sticks, etc. The belVita Bites are great on-the-go too.

Mine is drinking at least 16 ounces of water before I have any coffee! I actually got that one from Dani (at Weight Off My Shoulders), and it helps me stick with getting my water in throughout the day!

P.S.-I will eternally be guilty of hitting the snooze button! Can’t seem to get myself out of that habit!

  5. You are SO right about the snooze button! If I give in and hit the snooze button, my whole day is shot!
