Beautiful Skin for Summer: Puritan’s Pride Review & Giveaway

Summer Skin Care

FTCGeneralWith over a month of summer still to go, this is a good time to remember ways to promote beautiful skin by keeping yours protected and healthy. Summer is typically the time of year when we spend the most time outside. Even on cloudy days, the sun can be quite strong. As I am in my 40’s, I am paying more and more attention to skin protection and products that will keep my skin looking as vibrant and young as possible. Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, no one paid much attention to skin protection. The most sunscreen I applied probably had an SPF 4 at best.

I was really excited to receive a collection of summer skin care products from Puritan’s Pride to try for my entire family. I received the following products:

  • Puritan’s Pride Coconut Oil
  • Kiss My Face SPF 30 Sunscreen
  • Little Twig Extra Gentle SPF 30 Sunscreen
  • Puritan’s Pride Tea Tree Oil
  • Aromappeal Lemon Refreshing Pure Essential Oil
  • Puritan’s Pride Aloe Vera Cream and Lotion
  • Puritan’s Pride Vitamin E Cream

As a mom, I am much more careful not only of my own skin, but that of my children. My kids love the sunscreens we tried from Puritan’s Pride. Both have extra sensitive skin so the extra mild sunscreen by Little Twig was a perfect choice for them. This sunscreen is unscented, non-whitening, has no mineral oil and is nut, soy and wheat free. My son has a nut allergy so this was good to know as well.

All of the products feel great on my skin. The creams are light and non-greasy with a pleasant fragrance. The coconut oil makes me feel like I am someplace tropical. Here is a bit more information about each product and my experience with each:

Coconut Oil

People in Polynesian cultures have long used coconut oil to nourish the body and protect the skin from harsh tropical rays. More and more research is being done on the health benefits of cooking with coconut oil. I focused on the external uses for this review. Since my skin is a bit too oily already, I used the coconut oil on my dryer areas like my hands, elbows, knees, etc.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has been used traditionally as a topical antiseptic and antifungal treatment. It is also shown to be affective for acne, which I stills struggle with, so I gave that a try. It minimized the size and redness of my pimples (Yippee!). I love it on my feet and hands too. It really helped to minimize cracking on my heals and soften the cuticles around my nails.

Aloe Vera Lotion and Cream

For thousands of years, people have used the gel from aloe vera leaves for healing and softening the skin. The Puritan’s Pride lotion and cream feels lovely on my skin and really helped moisturize my dry areas. It also worked well on dry patched for both of my children.

Vitamin E Cream

According to WebMD, research has found that vitamins E can help protect the skin against sun damage and skin cancer. It may actually reverse some of the discoloration and wrinkles associated with aging. It’s been a while since I have used a Vitamin E cream so it was nice to give this one a try. I love the way if feels on my skin. I have been using it as a night cream.

Lemon Essential Oil

This oil can be used for massage, in your bath, or vaporizer. The bottle recommends to dilute five drops of essential oil to 10ml of carrier oil for massage. I enjoyed patting just a bit behind my ears and at my wrists for a quick pick-me-up.

I am very pleased with the quality of all of the products I received. I think these products will help promote beautiful skin for myself and my kids for years to come. I will certainly be ordering from Puritan’s Pride in the future.
