Home Made Turkey Burgers With Apples and Mushrooms

I love turkey burgers especially with mix-ins like apples and mushrooms. Providing about 25 grams of protein per 3-ounce serving, they are sure to fill you up too! I typically use 93% lean ground turkey, which is about 176 calories per portion. It only has 2.5 grams of saturated fat as well. Here is one of my favorite turkey burger recipes

Turkey Burgers With Apples and Mushrooms

Ingredients

1lb ground turkey breast
5 mushrooms, chopped
1/3 small onion, chopped
1/2 apple, chopped – I like golden delicious for added sweetness
1/2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp lemon juice
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
I like to add a pinch of garlic and pepper

Directions

Fry the onions to your liking. Add the apples and mushrooms and continue cooking until they are soft. Mix other ingredints in a large bowl. Form 3 medium or 4 small patties and broil about 4-5 inches from the heat for 6-8 minutes per side.

Toppings

Top with whatever you’d like. Here are a few ideas:

  • Fresh avocado spread
  • Fresh tomato
  • Bacon – why not! Especially if you are skipping the bun like I do!
  • Mango salsa
  • Light ranch dressing
  • Good ol’ ketchup
