It’s a great time of year to make sure all of your immunizations are up to date. I needed my seasonal flu vaccine, so I went to Walgreens to help support the Get a Shot-Give a Shot program. From September 2nd through October 13th, for every flu shot or other immunization you receive at Walgreens, you will help provide a life-saving vaccine to a child in a developing country through the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign.
Isn’t it sad that children in Tanzania are not even sure that they will grow up? Together, we can protect children from diseases like measles and polio. In countries with low healthcare resources, vaccine preventable deceases account for 20% of all childhood deaths. Let’s do what we can to help put a stop to this. I was more than happy to head over to my local Walgreens to get my flu shot. It was super easy. The pharmacy was easy to find and the waiting area was nice and clean.
Immunization is one of the world’s biggest public health success stories. Yet, 1 in 5 children around the globe still lack access to the lifesaving immunizations. Coordinated worldwide vaccination efforts have made significant progress, but help is still needed. The partnership between Walgreens and the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign will provide up to 3 million vaccines for children all over the world. This video provides just a glimpse of how immunizations can make a huge difference. You might want to have a tissue ready. It brought tears to my eyes.
You can formally “take the pledge” to get your shot at Walgreens on their website. Share this program with your family and friends on social media and join the movement helping make a world of difference to children in need. Walgreens also donated 10 million dollars worth of free flu shot vouchers to Americans without insurance coverage. I have always been a fan of Walgreens, but this makes me love them even more.
Thanks to Walgreens #GetAShot and #CollectiveBias for making this post possible. Use these hashtags to find other information and great posts about this wonderful cause. Spread the word and make a difference!
What an amazing program and an easy way for customers to give back to those in other countries! #client
This is great for anyone who gets vaccines
Get a Shot, Give a shot is one of my favorite concepts. If I had a shot to get, I would go to Walgreens knowing they were giving a shot to someone else.
This is such a wonderful thing! I am so glad walgreens has something like this, Love it!
I love this initiative. I think every child deserves to have their immunizations.
That is so convenient to have them done at Walmart!
I heard on the news last night that the flu season has already started. We need to get in and get our shots this year.
What a great program. I love it when companies give back.
What a great program from Walgreens – which reminds me, I need to make sure I’m up to date! 🙂
It’s so great that Walgreens is doing this! How convenient to just walk in, get the flu shot, and even pick up snacks or school supplies.
This is such a great cause! I love that helping yourself allows you to help others in need!!
Its really great that Walgreens is encouraging healthier people in the US with this incentive to give a shot when you get one. We take for granted how easy we have access to basic health care, thanks to companies like Walgreens, and this is a great reminder to appreciate it and take advantage of it!
This post reminded me I need to go get mine – my work usually sponsors it if you have insurance through them (we are lucky).
I think it’s an amazing program. Vaccines are so important in developing countries and Ijust love that Walgreen’s is providing so many.
