Both of my kids play soccer and my son also baseball. This means I spend a lot of time on the sidelines and in the bleachers during allergy season. What are my secrets to surviving this time of year without feeling miserable. Check out what’s in my purse to keep me feeling my best.
What’s In My Purse for Spring Sports Spectating
Water
It’s important to keep hydrated all year long, but sitting in the sun while watching sports it’s especially important. According to WebMD, not being properly hydrated during allergy season may even lead to more frequent and more intense allergy symptoms. I love an insulated stainless steel bottle, which helps keep my water ice cold for hours.
Lip balm
I don’t go anywhere without lip balm with sun protection built in. A sassy scent like wild berry is one of my favorites. I hate nothing more than chapped lips. I keep an extra in my car too!
Cell Phone
Well, what mom doesn’t have her cell phone these days. It’s great for taking pictures and keeping in touch with my husband if he’s attending another game. A few game apps help keep my daughter entertained with my son is playing baseball. Many weather apps will help you check pollen counts to be prepared too!
Sunglasses
It’s super important to protect your eyes with UVA/UVB blocking sunglasses. You’ll not only be protecting your eyes, but you will be able to see your kids better without the glare of the sun. I like the bonus of protecting the more delicate areas around my eyes.
Sunscreen or an umbrella
Of course sunscreen is super important as well. I bring a spray to make sure my kids playing the sport are protected. For me, I like a lighter lotion version. I wear makeup with SPF and protect any bare skin. For really hot days, I’ll sometimes bring a golf umbrella to protect my skin and keep cool.
Healthy snacks
Especially if you are at a game with a snack bar, pack your own healthy snacks so you are not tempted to buy unhealthy chips, hot dogs, etc. I always pack a protein bar and fresh fruit. If I have one of my kids on the sidelines, I’ll pack a mix of slightly sweet cereal with blueberries or raisins. Helps keep them from begging for snack bar candy.
FLONASE® Sensimist Allergy Relief
I was recently introduced to FLONASE® Sensimist Allergy Relief. I love it and always carry it my purse. This way, I have easy access to my daily dose in case I forget at home. I can also give a dose to my son if needed. The FLONASE® Sensimist spray provides a gentle, yet powerful mist to help allergy symptoms. My son and I both appreciate the more gentle mist and the short, less invasive spray nozzle.
FLONASE® Sensimist is a non-drowsy medication that provides 24-hour relief of those annoying allergy symptoms like itchy, watery eyes, runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing. It protects against allergies by helping to block six key inflammatory substances. FLONASE® Sensimist has also been found to be 40% stronger than a leading non-drowsy allergy pill. Sign me up!
You can pick up FLONASE® Sensimist at your local CVS Pharmacy! With over 9,000 CVS Pharmacy locations around the US, you will likely find a location near you! Click here to use their store locator.
